Therapy in a safe, comfortable and private setting
I offer in-person psychotherapy and counselling for individuals.
I work with people seeking help for anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties and other issues, including trauma. I am a senior-accredited therapist with 20 years experience.
An initial exploratory meeting can help you feel clearer about whether to engage in counselling or psychotherapy. Some people find that a few sessions of therapy can help them address a specific issue, while others choose to work on a longer-term basis to help focus on deeper problems.
As a psychotherapist, supervisor and trainer I have also worked with the following issues that people bring to therapy:
- intrusive thoughts
- abuse: sexual, psychological, physical
- personality disorders
- bi-polar disorder
- Anxiety and anxiety disorders
- different forms of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)

My Practice
I work as a Person-Centred or Client-Centred therapist and clinical supervisor.
Client-Centred therapy is based on a therapeutic relationship from which a person may learn to draw from, and trust, inner resources that can change emotional and behavioural patterns recognised as unhelpful or problematic.
Accredited at senior level, I supervise other psychotherapists, counsellors and clinical therapists working in the Telford, Wrekin and Shropshire areas. I have worked as a psychotherapist and counsellor in universities, mental health agencies, and in the private sector.
Background
I previously taught at the University of Warwick on the Counselling & Psychotherapy degree programme. I facilitated and taught trainee counsellors on this nationally recognised and BACP accredited course. I have over 20 years experience of consultancy and coaching for individuals from public and private organisations. I have appeared on BBC Radio Shropshire sharing my perspective and experience on men's mental health and anger management.
I am a fully accredited member of the NCPS (National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society), and registered with the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Registered with the ICO (data protection & control), I also hold a DBS Certificate (previously the Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau - CRB).
I am registered with the following health insurance companies to provide counselling and psychotherapy:
AVIVA, BUPA, WPA, Simply Health (Groupama), CIGNA, Exeter Family Friendly, and PruHealth.
The National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS)
The NCPS is one of the UK's longest established counselling & psychotherapy professional bodies.
The NCPS's overarching concern is to serve and protect people engaging in counselling and psychotherapy. The NCPS supports clients and therapists in their joint endeavour to work safely and effectively together.
The NCPS also offers the public an online directory of counsellors and supervisors at their page How Can Counselling Help me?
As a Senior Accredited counsellor and psychotherapist I regularly draw from the NCPS Code of Ethics as a way of safeguarding and enhancing the quality of therapy I provide.
